About the client

Our client is a financial technology company building payment and banking products for businesses and consumers. Its platform moves money across banks, card networks and payment rails, and every transaction must be correct, auditable and reconciled.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and operate the Go services that move money. You will own services end to end, from design and implementation to production monitoring and incident response, with correctness as the primary concern.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services in Go, with clear concurrency and error-handling patterns.

• Implement correctness mechanisms: idempotency keys, exactly-once effects over at-least-once delivery, optimistic concurrency, outbox/inbox, sagas and compensating transactions, immutable audit trails.

• Model data in PostgreSQL: transaction boundaries, isolation levels, locking, and migrations that are safe on live tables.

• Build and integrate with external financial partners (banks, card processors, ACH/RTP, KYC/KYB vendors), handling retries, partial failures and webhook ordering.

• Ship and run your own services on AWS, managing infrastructure with Terraform, and debug production issues end to end.

• Write design docs, incident write-ups and PR descriptions that others can act on.

Requirements

• 6+ years building and operating backend services in production, with significant recent production experience in Go (concurrency model, error handling).

• Direct experience with financial or transactional systems: payments, ledgers, banking, lending, billing, trading or similar.

• Fluency with correctness patterns: idempotency keys, exactly-once effects over at-least-once delivery, optimistic concurrency, outbox/inbox, sagas or compensating transactions, immutable audit trails.

• Strong relational modeling and SQL (PostgreSQL): isolation levels, locking, transaction boundaries, safe migrations on live tables.

• AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform): able to ship, monitor and debug their own services.

• Integrations with external financial partners (banks, card processors, ACH/RTP, KYC/KYB vendors), including retries, partial failures and webhook ordering.

• Clear written communication: design docs, incident write-ups, PR descriptions.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS/SNS, EventBridge).

• Prior work on ledger, reconciliation or double-entry accounting systems.

• Experience with PCI DSS scope reduction or SOC 2 controls.

• AWS certification (Solutions Architect or DevOps Professional).
